We moved to Nusa Lembongan on a whim in July of 2013, having lived on the East Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
After visiting Lembongan in the early 90's and again in 2012, a decision was made, sitting under the Mango Tree that still stands.
We packed our belongings, lured by island life, its open community, great waves and a new direction.....
Villa Samudera is on local Balinese family land that runs from the road to the beach, and in our time spent here have become part of a large family throughout Jungut Batu and Lembongan.
Villa Samudera started very humbly, as moving to another country had its obstacles, we found ourselves 'back at school', learning a new language and the logistics of living and building on a small island. After spending 7 months in the main village of Jungut Batu in a local Balinese family compound, we moved into the timber section of the house in early 2014, with our daughter, our dog Ulin (he's the black dog with very short legs) and very few belongings. A makeshift kitchen off the side of the house was moved on two occasions as the building progressed and found its feet.
Villa Samudera is a work in progress. It is a family home, designed to be shared. We hope you get as much enjoyment staying here as we do...
